Rural Initiators and Motivators Development Association (RIMDA) is a Community – Based Organisation (CBO) with its head office at Goaso, the District Capital of the Asunafo North District of the Brong Ahafo Region.  It operates within the Brong Ahafo, Western, Ashanti, and Central Regions. It has agencies at Tano South District –Bechem, Kintampo District –Kintampo, Techiman District -Techiman, Asutifi District –Kenyasi, Asunafo South –Kukuom, Asunafo North –Goaso, Tano North District –Dua Yaw Nkwanta and Cape Coast.

 

RIMDA was formed in 1994 as a CBO and was legally registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in October 1996 under the Companies Code 1963 (Act 179).  It has Partner Organizations (PO) and has worked with a lot of other organizations within its scope of operation.

Vision

To be a major player in the socio-economic development of the people in rural communities.

 

Mission

To promote and encourage the concerted efforts of rural communities to initiate and implement self-help activities to improve their socio-economic well-being.

 

Areas of Specialization

 

The Organisation is specialized in community animation and advocacy role in social and economic development of rural and deprived urban dwellers.  RIMDA’s programme areas are mainly focused on sensitisation with emphasis on:

 

·         Community mobilization for social and  economic development programmes;

·         Community sensitisation on water and sanitation ;

·         Rural water and sanitation management training;

·         Community sensitisation on environmental protection

·         Advocacy on gender balance, women empowerment and girl- child education;

·         Advocacy on health social issues, e.g. HIV/AIDS campaign
